Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Cody Simpson Birmingham, AL 1/16/13

To anyone who has never seen Justin Bieber, all I can say is that you are missing out on one of the best shows in music today. Although he changes outfits and has an outlandish stage setup, his performance is simply stunning. The first artist of the night was Cody Simpson. I had seen him the previous summer with Big Time Rush. He was not my favorite then, and he is still not my favorite now. Throughout his whole performance he kept adjusting his microphone and I was convinced that he was lip-syncing. I was glad when he was over. To make up for the unfortunate performance that I had just seen, the show redeemed itself when Carly Rae Jepsen started. She walked out wearing this adorable black dress-skirt combination and some Doc Martin boots. She opened with This Kiss. Skip ahead a few songs and she called Cody Simpson out to sing Good Time with her. (My favorite song of hers so I freaked out!) Surprisingly, he actually did a good job with this song. Later on, she played
Turn Me Up
Hurt So Good
Tonight I’m Getting over You
Guitar String / Wedding Ring (Her guitar player put three guitars on himself and it was really cool)
Your Heart Is A Muscle (Dedicated to anyone in a long distance relationship and she said she knew how it felt)
Call Me Maybe
If she ever comes back to the area, I will be there.
Then it was time for the man of the night, Mr. Justin Bieber. When he flew out on the stage (yes, flew) on a set of metal wings, the energy from the crowd was the loudest I have ever heard at any show I have ever been to and that should say something because I have been in some really loud crowds. He played
All Around the World (Back up dancers ran around with flags from America, England, Japan, and (I think) South Africa)
Take You
Catching Feelings (His favorite song on the album)
One Time
U Smile
Eenie Meenie
Somebody to Love
Love Me Like You Do
She Don't Like the Lights
Die in Your Arms
Out of Town Girl (My favorite!!! We did this arm thing that Kanye taught him.)
Be Alright (He got in a contraption that flew him across the room)
Fall (whispered “I love you” during part of the song and it made my heart melt)
Never Say Never
Beauty and a Beat (pulled out a screen with a pre-recorded clip of Nicki Minaj’s part)
One Less Lonely Girl (pulled up a girl named Logan on stage)
As Long As You Love Me
Believe (Played the piano and I really got emotional during that song)
Boyfriend (WOOO!!!!)
Baby (Biggest crowd response of the night)

Justin has come a long way since I saw him in 2010 and I could not be more proud of him. He has grown up with such class and he is absolutely dedicated to what he does. You do not have to like Justin, but you should at least respect him. He is one of the most talented people in music today.
