The University of Alabama presents The Spectacular Now at The Ferguson Center

Sundance Award Winning Director, James Pondsoldt, came to the University of Alabama on Monday night to premiere his newest, indie film, "The Spectacular Now" for a one night only run at the campus' Ferguson Center Theatre. The event which was free to students, included an opportunity to take your picture on the Crimson Carpet and after the film, attend a Q & A with Pondsoldt himself. The movie, starring Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley, strongly represents how young love and alcohol should never mix. Nearing the end of the film, a surprising event happened and shocked the entire crowd who gasped, then went into a state of dead silence. The final scene left everyone in the room with more questions than were answered in the entire movie. Afterwards, Rachel Raimist, a professor at the University sat on the stage with Mr. Pondsoldt and the questions flooded in from students of all different majors. The questions varied from "How did you film [this] scene?" to "What really happens at the end?" and even various questions about his past films, all of which Pondsoldt answered in a casual, but professional way.

James is a director from Athens, Georgia, currently living in Los Angeles, California with his wife, Megan.

The Spectacular Now is based on the novel by Tim Tharp.
