Free Matthew Mayfield show in Birmingham, not on a school day? I think so. To make this show even more interesting, it rained almost the entire time. Shows in the rain are the best. Anyway Matthew is always amazing to see live. He always rocks and even when there are only twenty people in the crowd, he acts like he is playing to an arena. He played

Before Element, he asked the few people who were in the audience if there were any songs we wanted to hear. We all raised our hands and he called on us one by one. I told him I had two requests, Now You're Free and Heart In Wire. The other people said Fire Escape, Element, and Seasons In Our Dreams. He kindly explained to me that he could not play my songs because he did not have the right guitar, which was totally fine. I thanked him anyway. He closed out the afternoon with Element (which he plays at every show) and walked to the side of the stage to talk to everyone. Matthew and I had a nice conversation about Pearl Jam, which is one of both of our favorite bands. Rock and Roll, Y'all!
