Backstreet Boys Tuscaloosa, AL 8/27/13

I have been a Backstreet Boys fan almost all of my life. Over the years, I have kept up with them in hopes that I would get to see them one day. I never thought it would be 15 years before I would have the opportunity. I found out they were coming to Tuscaloosa the week after I started college and I was a level past stoked. This was a band that wrote one of my favorite songs of all time (you know, one of those songs that make you cry; that you sing at the top of your lungs while crying down the road (the song is Incomplete)). When I got to the show, the band was sound-checking several of their songs that would be played later in the night. There were jokes being made about a song that they had not played in years because Brian had to have a lyric sheet. After sound check was over, they took some questions from the people in the fan club who were already in the venue. It was your basic fan girl questions like "Will you sing happy birthday to me?" or "What did you mean when you posted this on Twitter?" Personally, I would not have asked those questions, but hey, whatever floats your boat. Before the opening act, Brian brought out his son to sing a few songs. He was decked out in his Crimson Tide colors (ROLL TIDE). He was precious. The real opening act, was DJ Pauly D from Jersey Shore. He really got the crowd hyped by playing and remixing Top 40 songs that everyone knew except for me. During certain songs, such as Thrift Shop by Macklemore and Ryan, you would have thought you were at one of their shows, instead of listening to a DJ. I thought Pauly D's performance was comical because he incorporated the "Jersey fist pump" into his set. He really knows how to get a crowd going and BSB did a great job placing him on this tour. With that being said, the lights went out and a loud BSB song blasted over the speakers. They all appeared from under a tall platform and fog lights were going everywhere. Their set included
The Call
Don't Want You Back
Incomplete (YESSSSS!!!!!)
Permanent Stain
All I Have to Give
As Long As You Love Me
Show 'Em (What You're Made Of)
Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely
Breathe
I'll Never Break Your Heart
We've Got It Goin' On
Safest Place to Hide
10,000 Promises (Acoustic)
Madeleine (Acoustic)
Quit Playin' Games (With My Heart) (Acoustic)
The One
Love Somebody
More Than That
In A World Like This (New song)
I Want It That Way
Everybody (Backstreet's Back) (The best crowd response)
Larger Than Life (My second song)

This show had great production and was one of the better "boy band" shows that I have been to. Backstreet has come such a long way and now, they play their own guitars, write their own songs, and produce their own albums. If you have not gotten their new record, "In A World Like This", I highly recommend it!
