Jimmy Eat World and Royal Bangs Center Stage Atlanta, GA 8/14/13

I have waited since the first grade to see Jimmy Eat World. I was supposed to see them in 5th grade when they opened for Green Day, but Billie Joe got sick and the show was postponed. Jimmy Eat World did not come back with them and I was crushed. So when I found out they were coming to Atlanta the week before I started my freshman year of college, I cried. My aunt said she would go with me and I was stoked!!! The whole way to the show, I kept thinking “Can my heart take this?!” As it turned out, it could. The opening band was called Royal Bangs from Knoxville, Tennessee. I really really really liked them. Their stage setup consisted of these really cool paper lanterns that changed colors with their different cord progressions. It was really cool and I have never seen anything quite like it. I do not know any of the songs that they played but they were rocking! They did not seem like the type of band that should be opening for Jimmy Eat World, but what is life without a little diversity? When it was finally time for Jimmy Eat World, I really wanted to cry because I was so overcome with excitement and I felt like my life led up to that moment. They played
I Will Steal You Back
Big Casino (YES)
My Best Theory (Ultimate Dance Party)
Appreciation
Your New Aesthetic
Lucky Denver Mint
Hear You Me
Futures (MY SONG! YES)
Kill
Work
We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (Taylor Swift Cover)
For Me This Is Heaven (acoustic)
Heart Is Hard to Find
Damage
Let It Happen
Pain
Always Be
No, Never
Lemme Smang It (Jim introduced a band called Turquoise Jeep and they ran out and sang this song while JEW played the music in the background. It was really confusing)
A Praise Chorus (during the next three songs there was so much crowd energy that it literally made me cry because it was so perfect and everything I thought it would be.)
Bleed American
Sweetness (The whole crowd sang the WOAH OH OH OH A OH part and it gave me chill bumps)
Chase This Light (Encore)
23
The Middle (Cue crowd freakout)

Overall, this show was stellar. I got to sing my little 1st grade heart out and I would love to do it again soon.
